Guess what? Next week is National Brain Awareness Week! What? You don't know what Brain Awareness Week is? Well, let me tell you! It's "the global campaign to increase public awareness of the progress and benefits of brain research" (Dana Foundation).
And guess what's even better? We're celebrating it in Eugene! Thanks to the Brain Development Lab at the University of Oregon, we have a whole week of events to attend in Eugene.
Tomorrow (Saturday, March 10th) kicks it off with an Expo at the WOW Hall from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. There will be all kinds of demos and exhibits about the brain and how it works. There will even be a magic show presented by Dr. Ray Hymen!
Tuesday (March 13th) there will be a Brain Awareness Pub Night at Cozmic Pizza at 7:30 p.m. First, Dr. Mike Wehr will talk about how the brain interprets music, followed by a FREE show from local band Flapper Dan!
Friday (March 16th) there will be an Attneave Lecture by Dr. Nelson Cowan at the University of Oregon in the Gerlinger Lounge.
And last, but most certainly not least...
Sunday (March 18th) the Brain Development Lab is hosting a 5k and Fun Run at Alton Baker Park! Don't worry, it's not until 2:00 p.m., so you'll have plenty of time to sleep in after your St. Patrick's Day activities. In fact, exercise is supposed to help hangovers. There will be food, t-shirts, water bottles, and lots of fun! I highly encourage you to come and check it out! You can even register online!
See you at all the BAW awesomeness next week!
